BRANCASTER PARISH COUNCIL

 

A Parish Council meeting was held in the Simms Reeve Institute,Brancaster, on Tuesday, 2nd. February, 2010, at 7 p.m.

 

PRESENT

Mr.A.Townshend, [Chairman];  Mesdames. J.Sands and C.Borthwick; Messrs, J.Petchey  C.Southerland, J.Snelling, N.Linge.. M.Fullwood,, M.Billing.

 Also present were 14  electors .

4. MATTERS ARISING

Brancaster village shop – waiting to hear from Mrs.Wilson

Saxon Field car park/allotments – awaiting date for meeting.

Cemetery railings- now being finished.

Village sign – work now to be done by F.Taylor at less cost

Allotments,Market Lane – site had been opened on 3rd. January

Gate at Seven Edges [notice had been removed]

Derelict boats on BS village green – JS reported that  most of the clearing up work  had been done.

4a.  REPORTS  FROM PC REPS.

CB   BS village hall. Concern at LDF proposals.

5. BRANCASTER COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB

Further discussion deferred at the request of J.Butterwick. Awaiting further  information..

6.   FINANCE   

[a] Invoices to pay:

J.E.Lake ½ cost of computer upgrade and backup system £67.50;

Simms Reeve Ins [hire for 3 mtgs. ] £50

Parish News donation £50

[b]  St.Mary’s, Burnham Deepdale [donation]  Copy of their accounts awaited.

7.   PLANNING 

1.  Sandpiper Cottage, Brancaster Staithe – demolition & rebuild: Objection. Too big for plot.  Objection passed by 6 votes to 3 

2.  Whiteacres, Cross Lane, Brancaster -  no objection.

3. DCB Meeting, 8th. February

Email from Mr. Spaargaren read out. Clerk to reply as necessary.

PC would not be represented at the forthcoming DCB meeting.

8. BRANCASTER PLAYING FIELD CAR PARK

 Agreed to try a system of donations with permits. Perhaps a figure of £50 per season.  Notice to be put in Parish News.

9.  TERRY MITCHELL MEMORIAL TREE

Agreed that a memorial tree could be placed on the playing field. Preferably an oak, on condition that it would be looked after.

10  CORRESPONDENCE

1.  WNBC numbering of Town  Lane -  agreed that a numbering system was needed.

2.  T de Winton – reply re Social Housing. Noted. There was now an option to purchase land at Common Lane..

3. RSPB Titchwell annual review, Tuesday, 9th. Feb. Noted. JP to attend.

4. WNBC Planning [parish training] on 5th.March. Noted.

5.  Hunstanton Civic Society – info. Noted.

6.  Amendments to registers CL65, 124, 161, 162. Noted

10. OTHER ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

1.  CS Fir tree obstructing view to east of The C lose. ACTION: John Snelling.

2. J.Snelling.  No longer able to organise traffic cones in summer.  Jamie Borthwick and/or Richard Lowe to be asked. John was thanked for his work in previous years.

3. Jackie Sands  Dog mess in Market Lane. Notice needed near allotment site.

4.  M.Fullwood  Look out for stray dog.

5. C.Borthwick  LDF core strategy. Comments to be in by 24th. Feb.  Comments already received from A.Borthwick and T.Olesen.  ACTION: Clerk

6  NL  WNBC decision re red telephone kiosks imminent.

7. AT  New tarmac-ed area by the Old Bakery had dropped.

8. NL  Unitary Authority for Norfolk.

Public Session

J.Butterwick  Concern re LDF. Suggested writing to MP.

G.Bottom  concern at possible purchase of land at Common Lane for social housing.  Would PC contact Hastoe.

BE  Illegal notice on gate at Seven Edges. [This had been removed].

      Overhanging trees by Branodunum footpath A149. ACTION JP

Request from parishioner for copies of agendas and minutes at future meetings.

AN  alternative uses for redundant red telephone kiosks.

The  meeting closed at 8.15 p.m.
