BRANCASTER PARISH COUNCIL MINUTES

 

A Parish Council meeting was held in the Simms Reeve Institute, Brancaster, on Tuesday, 5th.June, 2007, at 7 p.m.

 

PRESENT

Mr.C.Southerland [chairman]; Mrs.J.Sands, Messrs. N.Linge, A.Townshend, J.Petchey, A,Borthwick, T.Large, M.Billing.  Also present were 11 electors.

Mr.C.Southerland opened the meeting and asked everyone to stand for a Minute’s Silence in memory of David Sands.

1.APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

None

2..CO-OPTION OF TWO COUNCILLORS FOR THE STAITHE WARD

Three applications had been received: Messrs.J.Snelling, M.Fullwood and M.Bucher.

A paper ballot was held, assisted by Mr.G.Parry as adjudicator.

Result: Messrs.J.Snelling and M.Fullwood were co-opted.

6. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

These, having been circulated, were taken as read, agreed as correct [prop.JP, sec. AB] and signed by the chairman.

7. MATTERS ARISING

[a] Bottle Bank Site – Letter from Simms Reeve Ins. Committee read out.  [Corres no.5]   The adjoining hedge had been trimmed. To be kept tidy by the S.R.I. Leave until next year.

[b] Coastal Path – reported in bad state [AB] especially at the Deepdale end.  Also path to RWNGC. Serious complaints to be made. ACTION: Clerk

 [c] Verges -  J.Petchey  reported that verges in Burnham Deepdale had been done.   Surface drains in London Street to be done in August.

[c] AA box. Report by W.King. As box  in poor state a surveyor’s report was needed and it  must be put in pristine condition and legal fees paid by owner before further  action.

Resolved [prop. JP] to get a price for renovation from local carpenter [B.Walsh]  and meet  with WK on site..

8.  BRANCASTER COMMUNITY SPORTS CLUB

Correspondence no. 7 [J.Butterwick] re. new playground equipment on field.  Resolved that the PC grant permission for the BCSC to commence operations on the playing field for the children’s play area. [prop. AT, sec. MF]  Voting: 8 in favour, 1 against [AB]

Lease to be  signed in July if Land Registry had replied re. registration of access.

9.  REPORTS FROM PARISH COUNCIL REPS.

BCMC – JP reported on recent “rave”.

Sea Defence Committee-  Report by CS/AT. Further meeting in autumn.

B S village hall – report by AB on driveway. Another quotation to be obtained.

10. FINANCE

[a] Invoices for payment; Prop. JP that the following be paid:

MHB  £70.05; B.Tel [210607] £58.35; Computer Shop £199; NCS [playing fields maint] £699.87

D.Ds  monthly: Eon Energy £153.41; J.E.Lake £294.

2. North House, Brancaster Staithe;  Objection. Wrong plans submitted. Pass to Mrs.J.Howell for reply.

Roman Walk footpath overgrown [owner of  September Cottage  to be approached] ; 4. abandoned red car at Old Lifeboat [no action possible as car is on private ground]; Dog fouling on path by SR Ins.   Resolved to ask owner of Old lifeboat Caravan site to put up a notice.
