BRANCASTER PARISH COUNCIL

 

A Parish Council meeting was held in the Simms Reeve Institute,  Brancaster ,  on Tuesday, 6th.January, 2009, at 7 p.m.

PRESENT

Mr. C.Southerland [Chairman];  Mrs.J.Sands; Miss C.Borthwick; Messrs, N.Linge , J.Petchey A.Townshend,  M.Fullwood.. J.Snelling, T.Large, M.Billing.  Also present were 25 electors.

Agreed and signed as correct  [prop.JP]

4. MATTERS ARISING

Grants -  PC to make a case for help towards refurbishment of cemetery railings and gate. It was believed JEC Powell made these.

Brancaster Cemetery – 2 prices  for cleaning round railings  K.Crompton £400.; J.Bridges £260.

Prop. JP, sec.NL that the J.B quotation be accepted. Agreed

7 – 16 MARSH SIDE – As no action had been taken, PC to put pressure on Freebridge

Seat at Broad Lane [opposite church]  - Thanks to be sent to Paul Groom of NCC Highways..

Litter Bins –No further news.

Dog bin at harbour – Now erected. Bill from B.Welsh to hand.

Flytipping Signs for bottle bank  site – In hand by J.Snelling and Mrs.J.Luddington.

AA kiosk –repairs done. Awaiting inspection by John Selby

Dalegate Road – Awaiting erection of appropriate road signs.  This to be  checked.

Footpath by North House – Reply from NCC. Copy to be sent to CRH Assn.

Seats on playing field. -  A.T. stated  that these ought not to be moved at the moment.    To be on next agenda.

Car parking at Saxon Field. NCC could not help.

1.  26 The Close, Brancaster Staithe – conservatory. No objection.

2.  Brette Cottage, Cross Lane, Brancaster – extension. No objection.

8. BRANCASTER VILLAGE SIGN

Designs and price details to be circulated. Decision to be made at February meeting.

9. CORRESPONDENCE

1.  Mrs.S.Case – thank you for donation to PCC

2.  WNBC – Application by 71 Club for licence. Noted.

3.  T.Olesen, Brancaster Staithe village hall – quotation for roof renovation [grant purposes]

4.  DBHS – information on 2 new dwellings at Dale End and possible further affordable housing in the parish.

J.Sands – dogs on playing field.

NL  Christmas Lights - Thanks to those who put up lights at Christmas but due to lack of helpers

lights may not be put up in 2009. Notice to be put in PN.

Thanks to N.Raynore for flood lighting of church.

Mrs.J.Luddington – flytipping problems

G.Bottom -  possibility of play ground equipment in BS.

                     Village green boat park

Clerk – info on regime for beach car park passes for this season. Notice will be in PN.

Mayor’s Reception followed at 8 p.m.   Attended by Borough Mayor David Johnson and Mrs.Johnson,  Mayor’s attendant and parishioners.  Welcome speech by Chairman Cyril Southerland.

Mayor invited questions about his year of office and recalled many memories of Brancaster.

A presentation was then made to Parish Councillor Noel Linge on the occasion of his 80th. birthday, and his 35 years service as a Parish Councillor. A card and gift of a framed photograph was given to Noel.
