BRANCASTER PARISH COUNCIL

 A Parish Council meeting was held in the village hall,  Brancaster Staithe,  
on Tuesday, 3rd. February, 2009, at 7 p.m.
 

PRESENT

Mr. C.Southerland [Chairman];  Mrs.J.Sands; Miss C.Borthwick; Messrs, N.Linge , J.Petchey A.Townshend,  M.Fullwood, , N.Linge and J.Snelling.  Also present were 7 electors and Mr.Peter Morris [WNBC grants].

Welcomed by the Chairman.  Discussed current grant issue. Priority list 1. Cemetery, 2. Village sign

 3  BS village hall.

Mr.Morris to visit Brancaster to complete application form. To be arranged by Clerk. Attendees: AT,JP.CS.

Regarding the proposed cycle path along the coast from Old Hunstanton to B.Overy linking the villages, a consultation day would be held with maps.  Perhaps at the APCM or APM

Footpath by North House – No further news. Miss C.B had contacted S.Bett

JP.  Barrow Common – tidy up ongoing.

8.   PLANNING 

Nil.

9. Brancaster Staithe village green.

JP had received a telephone call but there was no written reply from HM.  This to be requested.  Some boats now gone. Agreed [prop JP. Sec. J.Sands] that this area now be completed cleared  . A work party to be organised.

10. BRANCASTER VILLAGE SIGN

Agreed [prop. JP, sec. AT] that Sign design B and plinth design A be chosen.  “Branodunum” to be on post underneath.  Sign B to include depiction of lifeboat and cartwheel.  Sign to be un- painted and one-sided. Facing towards the church.  It was understood that a private donation of £1000 would be made.

Prices were now needed for the brickwork [next meeting]

11.  Brancaster playing field seats

AT proposed that a plastic seat be purchased but to delay the matter  until March.

12. Cemetery Gates and Railings

J. Bridges to start work soon.  Area to be re-seeded in March.  Estimate for project about £3000.  It was now believed that the iron railings may have been made at Thornham Ironworks.                                      

13. CORRESPONDENCE

1.  Thank you cards from N.Linge

2.  A.Turner – offer to draw up Parish Plan.  Noted.

3.  NT – Request for PC contribution [one third]  to upkeep of toilet on Hard.  Agreed – to be paid at March meeting. Also agreed to put pressure on NCC for financial help as Coastal Path walkers made use of this facility

 

14. OTHER ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION

AT  Grenville Cottage owners making a path onto the playing field via Backlands.  There should now be  car park charges on BPC car park

MF  Holes in entrance to drive, Brancaster playing field.

J.Sands  Problem of dog fouling near and in cemetery. Fencing needed on the gate.

No Dogs sign needed at west end of playing field.

Path by 7 – 16 Marsh Side

J.Butterwick  Footpath London street to Cross Lane

B.Everitt  Car parking problems at Saxon Field. NCC to be asked if yellow lines at this point are permissible.  There is a bus stop in the vicinity.

 

The meeting closed  at 8.20 p.m.
